My PhD, ‘Pictures for Schools: Art, Education and Reconstruction in Post-war Britain’, was examined by Dr Keith Vernon (University of Central Lancashire) and Dr Sarah Mills (Loughborough University) in February 2018. Pictures for Schools was a scheme established by the artist and educationalist Nan Youngman in 1947 to get original works of art into schools. It ran until 1969. My thesis is held in the National Arts Education Archive at Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
